Hintzi

Privacy Policy

Last updated: [date of publishing]

Draft. This text is a starting point written in plain English. Have it reviewed by a lawyer and fill in the highlighted parts before Hintzi is sold to the public.

This policy explains what information Hintzi collects, why, and the choices you have. Hintzi is provided by [legal business name], [registered address] ("we", "us"). Questions: [privacy email, e.g. privacy@hintzi.com].

The short version

1. What we collect

2. How screenshots are handled

Screenshots and your question are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our server, which passes them to our AI provider to create your hint. Our servers keep them in memory only while working on your request (at most a few minutes if the screen was uploaded while you were typing) and don't save them to disk or logs. Our AI provider is [e.g. OpenAI]. Under its business terms, data sent through its API isn't used to train its models, and may be kept for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring before being deleted. [Check and link the provider's current data-retention terms here].

Avoid asking for help while sensitive information (for example passwords, medical or banking details) is visible on screen.

3. Why we use your information

4. Who we share it with

Only service providers that help us run Hintzi, bound by contracts to protect it: cloud hosting ([e.g. Google Cloud]), the AI provider ([e.g. OpenAI]), email delivery ([e.g. Resend]) and payments ([provider]). We may disclose information if the law requires it. We don't sell personal information.

5. Where it's stored and for how long

6. Your choices and rights

7. Security

Connections are encrypted, passwords are hashed, the app holds no secret keys, and sign-ins on each device can be revoked at any time. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.

8. Children

Hintzi isn't meant for children under [minimum age]. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

9. Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll tell you by email or in the app before the change applies.
